Dr. William Lohrer is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty certification in orthopedic sports medicine. He earned his medical degree and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Rochester, followed by a sports medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. Before joining Hartford Orthopedic Medicine, he was an assistant professor of orthopedics at Penn State and team physician for Penn State, the University of Massachusetts, and Amherst College.

Dr. Arpad Fejos focuses on interventional pain management, offering non-surgical care for spine and injury-related conditions, including epidural injections and nerve blocks. He earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, completed his residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital, and is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, he joined Hartford Orthopedic Medicine in 2026.

Dr. Patel is board-certified in both Psychiatry and Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has cared for Connecticut patients for more than 40 years.

He completed his neurology residency at Baylor College of Medicine and a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. He served the VA Connecticut Healthcare System for more than 30 years, including over a decade as Chief of Neurology, and his NIH-funded brain research has appeared in leading medical journals.

Dr. Rocco Giordano is a chiropractic physician who has cared for Connecticut patients since 1996 and has practiced as a senior chiropractic physician in Hartford since 2005. He earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life University and holds postgraduate certifications in clinical acupuncture, whiplash and brain injury traumatology, and impairment and disability evaluation. A member of the Connecticut Chiropractic Association, he speaks fluent Italian and English and conversational Spanish.

Dr. Monica Nowak earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life University in Marietta, Georgia, following undergraduate studies at New York University. She brings two decades of chiropractic experience, has been licensed by the chiropractic examining boards of both Connecticut and New Jersey, and joined our chiropractic team in 2015. She sees patients at our East Hartford office and is fluent in Polish.

Dr. Ken Demarest earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree and a B.S. in Human Biology from the National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Illinois, where he received the Robert’s Scholarship for uncommon concern, leadership, and service. Licensed in Connecticut since 2000, he has spent more than two decades caring for patients across the state, including nine years running his own Hartford practice before joining our chiropractic team.

Dr. Joe Giannattasio is a chiropractic physician who focuses on musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries, drawing on manual techniques, clinical nutrition, and acupuncture. He earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2001 from the National College of Chiropractic (now National University of Health Sciences) and completed postgraduate study in acupuncture. Licensed in Connecticut since 2002, he sees patients at our New Britain office.

Dr. Dariana Cuadrado is a chiropractic physician caring for patients in the Greater Hartford area. She earned her Connecticut chiropractic license in 2023.

Dr. Michael DellaVolpe is a chiropractic physician at Hartford Orthopedic Medicine.

Dr. Richard Cohen is a Connecticut-licensed chiropractic physician at Hartford Orthopedic Medicine.

Dr. Pawel Markowicz is a Connecticut-licensed chiropractic physician who sees patients at our New Britain office.

Lana Gitelman is a Connecticut-licensed physical therapist at Hartford Orthopedic Medicine.

Paul Knecht is a Connecticut-licensed physical therapist who sees patients at our New Britain office.

January Violette is a Connecticut-licensed physical therapist assistant who works with patients at our New Britain office.

Maria-Elena Mouser is a Connecticut-licensed physical therapist assistant who focuses on orthopedic physical therapy.

Dr. Steven Shaw founded Hartford Orthopedic Medicine and serves today as Chiropractic Orthopedist, Emeritus. A board-certified chiropractic orthopedist in Connecticut practice since 1989, he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic from Life Chiropractic College in 1984 and a Master of Science with a concentration in biomechanical trauma from Lynn University. He built Shaw Chiropractic, Hartford Orthopedic Medicine, and CORA Physical Therapy, and has published and taught on whiplash and injury biomechanics.
